316L Stainless Steel

316L Titanium Steel (commonly referred as surgical steel or 316L stainless steel) is a high-grade stainless steel widely used in premium jewelry and medical equipment.

It does not contain titanium metal. Instead, it is a specific grade of stainless steel (316L, where the "L" stands for Low Carbon). Because of its exceptional hardness, steady luster, and safety standards, it is the same material used for medical implants like bone screws and heart stents.

Key Characteristics of 316L Stainless Steel

  1. Highly Hypoallergenic: 316L releases an extremely low amount of nickel, making it highly skin-friendly and less likely to cause redness or itching. It is a popular choice for people with sensitive skin or fresh piercings.
  2. Scratch-Resistant and Low maintainence cost: Its hardness is much higher than that of pure silver or gold. It resists scratching and deformation during daily wear, making it ideal for rings, bracelets, and rugged jewelry styles. Routine cleaning only requires water and a soft cloth.
  3. Waterproof and Sweat-resistant: It forms an ultra-thin, dense chromium oxide protective layer on its surface that effectively resists sweat, rainwater, and chemical erosion. You can wear it while showering, swimming, or working out. It won't tarnish or fade easily.

S925 Silver

S925 Sterling Silver (commonly referred to as S925 silver) is the globally recognized standard for pure silver jewelry. The "925" indicates that the silver content reaches 92.5%, with the remaining 7.5% consisting of other metals (typically copper).

Why Add 7.5% Other Metals?

  1. Solves the softness issue: 100% pure silver (fine silver) is extremely soft—similar to gold—making it easy to deform, scratch, and difficult to use for setting gemstones or creating intricate jewelry designs.
  2. Increases durability: Adding 7.5% of alloy significantly enhances the hardness and toughness of the silver, making it ideal for daily wear and secure enough to hold gemstones firmly in place.

Key Characteristics of S925 Silver

  1. Warm, Elegant Luster: Possesses a distinct, refined shine unique to silver.
  2. Hypoallergenic: Compared to cheap alloy jewelry containing high levels of nickel or heavy metals, 925 silver is much more skin-friendly for most people. It is perfectly suitable for people who have sensitive skin.
  3. Prone to Tarnish: When exposed to sulfides in the air, sweat, cosmetics, or hot springs, silver reacts chemically to form silver sulfide, causing it to turn yellow or black. This is a completely natural physical process and can easily be cleaned using a polishing cloth or silver cleaner to restore its original shine.

Key Preservation Tips

  1. Avoid Humidity & Sulfides: Sulfur and moisture in the air cause silver to tarnish and discolor. Take off the silver before contacting with hot springs, bleach, and rain. Take it off before doing any sports.
  2. Avoid Chemicals: Protect your jewelry from cosmetics, perfumes, and cleaning agents. Always put on your silver jewelry after you have applied makeup and perfume.
  3. Regular Cleaning: Regular maintenance helps remove surface oxidants. Wipe the silver items gently by using polishing cloths.
  4. Good Storage: Keep jewelry in a sealed bag when not in use to block air and humidity. Reduce the contact time with air and humidity can slow down the rate of its discoloration.
